Q: How much to vacation in Paris for 3 days?
I’ve always wanted to travel to another country (I’m from the USA) and I’ve recently aquired a part tame job so now I can begin to save money. How much was your paris vacation? Was it a first class vacation or a super budget?
Was it one person or two? A whole family? I don’t mind eating top ramen the whole time if it means I get to do it in Paris!
Any and all experences are welcome as well as advice
A: I’m from the US but live in Norway, and travel to Paris regularly (always budget!).
The cost depends on your standards and what you want to see/do.
A bunk in a shared hostel room costs about €25/$35 per night. I usually travel there with a friend, and we stay in a 2-star hotel a bit east of the city center. It’s actually quite nice, and the cheapest decent place I’ve found in Paris. It costs €70-80 ($100-115) per night for a double room, which is inexpensive for Paris. Here’s a link, in case you’re interested:

If you buy food from grocery stores and bakeries, you can get by on less than $20/day. A meal in a cheap restaurant will cost about the same. If you ate all your meals out, you’d need at least $50/day (double that for nicer places).
A booklet of ten metro tickets costs about $16, and I never use more than one during a 3-day trip (but I walk a lot). A 2-day museum pass is about $50, and is good for many of the major attractions around the city, but I’ve never used it so I don’t know if it’s worthwhile.
Two good sites for finding cheap flights:

If you went alone on a budget trip, you could probably do it for $250 + airfare + spending money. A comfortable (but not luxury) trip would cost about $500 + airfare + spending money.
Q: What are your ideas for a mini-Paris vacation?
What would you recommend for an 8 day vacation around March in Paris, France?
For Springbreak 2008, I am taking my wife and two sons (HS Seniors ages 17 & 18), my father-in-law and his Girlfriend to Paris. Now, my wife and I have been a few times and we have done the Tourist stuff as well as some local stuff.
I am looking for advice in terms of cool things to take and show my sons as well as some places and things that might be cool for my father-in-law.
My younger son is heavy into soccer…and he seems to like “History” when it’s made fun and intersting.
My older son is into Tennis, along with his grand-dad (My father-in-law) – I’m thinking about a tour of the grounds and Roland Garros, I wonder if there is anyway to get them some court time in which they could play against each other?
I would like to take them to a day of cooking lessons, perhaps some wine tasting/lessons. Do you have suggestions that I can utilize in making plans and setting up events while for when we are there?
OOooops…yes, March of 2009…
A: Just a few ideas…
Your son who is into history might enjoy the French Army Museum which is in Les Invalides. You can all learn how DeGaule led the invasion of Europe with the help of his Butler and Valet (a couple of guys name Montgomery and Eisenhower). Seriously, its a really good museum with suits of armour and nifty looking weapons.
You might also enjoy the Museum of Plans and Reliefs which is also at les Invalides. It has scale models of the forts and fortifications of France. It was once all classified and even when opened to the public a few decades ago it was hidden away in an attic and almost no one went there. they’ve cleaned it up and made it very accessible.
I don’t know much about tennis (okay…I don’t know anything about tennis) but I do know there are courts at the Luxembourg Gardens that are open to the public (or appear to be). Maybe they could play there. I’ve also seen kids playing soccer there. Maybe your other boy could find a pick up game.
Young people seem to be fascinated by both the Catacombs and the the tour of the Paris sewers. Have you considered taking them to those places?
The Conciergerie, being a medieval castle and a place people where held before having their heads cut off also can be interesting for teens.
Q: what is your favorite region in france for vacation(excluding Paris and Riviera) for a 5 day trip?
like hiking, have just 5 days
A: Alsace, on the Rhine
Q: Where would you go for your dream vacation?
My dream vacation is Greece.
BQ: What is your favorite place to visit and how many times have you been there?
Me- Paris, I’ve only been once. It was my graduation present.
A: Auckland, New Zealand.
BQ: Favorite place to visit is South Padre Island, TX and this coming trip will be my second time (first time was celebrating my 29th birthday in 2006.)
Q: When was your best Disney vacation ever?
I am a big Disney fan and I want to spend my vacation at one of the Disneylands around the globe. theres one in hong kong, japan, paris, california but the one in florida is definitely the biggest. during your disney vacation, what was the specific event or place that seemed to be the highlight of all the fun? Im thinking of going back to Disney.
A: We just visited Disney World in Orlando and we live close to Disneyland in Anaheim. Of the two, we love the original here in California. Disney World is larger, but it is more wide spread and difficult to experience in a short amount of time. We went back for a week and only scratched the surface on all the things we could see at the four theme parks.
Disneyland and California Adventure are essentially on the same property. The parks aren’t so spread apart,gr making it easy to park hop and experience much, if not all, that the parks have to offer in three or four days (given that the crowds are moderate). Disneyland/California Adventure have a lot of the same rides that Disney World theme parks have, but they’re condensed into the two parks, not spread out over four parks.
If you’re going to visit a Disney park this year, I’d suggest visiting the original Disneyland in California. The 50th parade and fireworks show are definitely worth seeing. They’ve also got the Electrical Parade going on at California Adventure.
There are a few attractions that my husband and I enjoyed in Florida that Disneyland doesn’t have to offer. They are: Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom; Mission Space and Test Track at Epcot; and Rockin’ Roller Coaster at MGM. Oh, and one of my all time favorites, especially with two little toddlers, People Mover. I’m so sad that they took that out of Disneyland. It was a sure fire way to get my kids to sleep.
There are some good rides here that Disney World doesn’t have like California Screamin’, Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, and Space Mountain with music (an awesome experience)
Good luck to you on making your decision. Enjoy the parks!
Q: Where is your next vacation going to be?
I’m going to Washington this June, but seeing politicians is hardly a vacation. so, after that I’m going to London and Paris the following October. hooray for planning ahead.
A: I really want to go to Australia, but i don’t think it will be for a while yet.
Q: how much does your typical vacation cost?
I’m not talking about those luxurious heavenly 2-week trips to Hawai or whatever, but your standard trip to New York, Paris, London or whatever…how much does it cost you?
A: If you want to go camping, a lot less than if you want to stay in a hotel.
The best thing to do is to first decide where you want to go, and look it up on the internet and start saving, or earning money toward it.
The last vacation I took was less than $500.00 however I went with a friend that lives 100 miles away and we spent a great deal of time just talking.
Q: Where did you go on your last vacation with your family?
By family I mean spouse and kids or close relatives. Not your WHOLE entire family.
Me, my husband, my then 4 year old, and my then 9 month old twins went to Paris. We had a great time (even with the kids), but the plane rides there and back were agoning.
A: My last vacation was last April when I was 6 mos. pregnant. Hubby took me to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Now that we have a baby I’m trying to figure out where our next vacation will be with a small infant. We will probably go to Cancun in the winter, next summer to visit my mom on Lake Tahoe and I’d also like to do a road trip up the Pacific Coast highway…..until then I will keep dreaming of my next vacation!
Q: Where would your ideal vacation be and why?
Just wondering! Mine is paris!
A: Ifugao, Philippines, love the historical sites and Boracay and Bohol island in the Philippines love the nature and landscapes.
Q: What are your favorite places to go on summer vacation?
a. Florida
b. Hawaii
c. California
d. New York
e. Chicago
f. Arizona
g. Texas
h. Paris
i. other
I love to go to Florida, California, Arizona, Chicago, China, & Wisconsin on summer vacation every few years.
A: Lake Tahoe. It’ just great for every indoor or outdoor activity you can think of.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Mines is spending a 2 week vacation in Paris, France with my boyfriend at a lavish hotel
A: 2 weeks in the south of france with my boyfriend on a beach.
Q: Where is your favorite place to vacation… Or where would you like to go on vacation?
By far my favorite place has been Paris and Southern France, but I would love to travel to Italy.
A: I love Le Marche – Italy. We bought a house here and we come as often as we can. It’s a beautiful region, still undiscovered by mass tourism. Have a try!
Q: A woman goes to Paris for vacation. She searched and searched but couldn’t find the Eiffel Tower, Why?
my friend says that you need to know your geography
A: Because she went to Paris, Ontario
Q: What place would you love to go to for a vacation?
And what was your favorite vacation so far?
I’m 16, haven’t lived long enough to brag about me travelling the world, but I would love to go to Rome, and just tour Italy in general. I would love the history, the beauty, the food, and the completely different culture compared to living in Toronto.
But I went to Europe a couple years ago with my family on vacation. We went to several countries. We stayed in Germany for a week, Austria for another week, and went back to stay in Munich for another couple days. We spent a day in Switzerland, France, and we were going to go to Italy but it would have been an overnight trip. Same reason for not going to Paris.
Now, how about you?
A: As you’re a Canadian citizen you should learn French (you’re 16 so it’ll be easy for you!) and enjoy spending holidays in Paris, French countryside or in the Alps.
You’ll find out there marvellous cities and a wondrous nature.
The knowledge of French will provide you lots of friends.
If you like sunny countries North Africa is quite a good place to go. New Caledonia is also nicknamed “French paradise” in Pacific Ocean.
Q: What is your dream vacation spot in the world? Not in the US.?
Mine is Rome, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and all of Japan.
A: wow… dream vacation…..
