Q: What certification do I need as a server/ waiter to work in a Las Vegas Hotel/ Casino?
What certification do I need as a server/ waiter to work in a Las Vegas Hotel/ Casino?

A: food handler so you need a tam card and alachol awareness card.
las vegas sheriff dot com and you can link to the site.

Q: What is a nice inexpensive hotel Casino in Las Vegas on the strip?
I am wondering what is a good inexpensive hotel Casino in Las Vegas that is on the strip…I dont want to pay too much but I want a decent room.
Thanks

A: The Stratosphere and the Sahara are two decent hotels/casinos at the end of the strip that usually have some of the cheapest rates on rooms. They are not tacky like New York New York or Excalibur. I’ve stayed at all four and I like those two the best.

The Tropicana is popular for young cheapskates but I haven’t stayed there to know if those rooms are decent or not. I don’t know if theses hotels are cheap: Bally’s, The Flamigo, Harris and the Imperial Palace, but they certainly look cheap and they are in the heart of the strip. You never know with the rooms though, I stayed at the Riviera once and it looks like a major dump, but the room was actually really nice.

Q: Whats your favorite Las Vegas hotel/casino?
…and Why?

I am just fifteen and would like to be an architect/developer and have ideas for a hotel/casino in Las Vegas and would like to hear people’s opinions about the resorts currently there. Thanks!

P.S. What do you think of the name “Diamond of the Desert” as a resort name?
It is in “Polls and Surveys” because I’m considering it a survey.

A: Diamond of the desert is kinda long.
I live in Las Vegas, my favorites are the Rio (every room is a suite) The Palms (it’s a hot spot) The Bellagio (very clean and classy) The MGM (great nightclubs, great bartenders, loose slots) The Hard Rock, (great atmosphere, good for meeting singles)
THe ones I don’t like are Luxor, horrible rooms on the corners.
The Imperial Palace, very run down
I hope this helped, best wishes to you and always follow your dream!

Q: What is the scent used by the MGM Grand hotel/casino in Las Vegas?
As soon as I walked into the MGM Grand hotel/casino in Las Vegas, I was overcome with a lovely scent. It was especially strong in the lobby. Does anyone know what scent they use, and if it’s available to purchase anywhere? I’d love to be able to smell it at home.
ANSWER: I contacted the MGM Grand directly and was told that the hotel lobby aroma is Jasmine & Rose, a custom aroma that was created for the MGM Grand by AromaSys.Inc.

A: Sorry I can’t find out but if you go on their website you could email them and ask them though I don’t know if they will answer.

Q: Are there (postal) mailing lists I can get on to have Las Vegas casino and hotel deals sent to us?
My and My husband recently got married in Las Vegas and we both loved it so much we are going to back at least once a year on our anniversary and hopefully in between, we are even considering moving there permanently. Is there any mailing lists or publications I could have delivered to my home (half way across the country) with specials and deals and even information on local Las Vegas attractions and events and or more?

A: Each individual/group-owned casino normally sends their mailings to whomever has their casino cards. The cards build points for special deals when you play. You register with name and address inside the casino, and the card is free.

Q: Any good restaurants near Stratosphere Hotel & Casino Las Vegas?
I am going on a business trip next week and only have a $60.00 allowance for food per day I figured Vegas is expensive so if anyone could help out with some economical choices to fit my budget that would be great!!!!

A: First, eating in Vegas is not expensive, since the casinos expect to make money on your gambling, so they practically give away the food.

I recommend picking your favorite meal, then making time to eat that one in comfort. Most casinos have a fast food court,so you can grab a breakfast or lunch sandwich easy enough.

For dinner, I can recommend the “broiler” inside Palace Station on W. Sahara (at Rancho) or head north on main street from the Stratosphere to get to the Fremont street experience. There is a Tony Roma’s in the Fremont hotel there.

One last piece of advise: don’t bother with coupon books because your have to wait in long lines just to get something “free.” It is never worth it.

Q: Celeberties at MGM Hotel Casino in Las Vegas?
I am taking a trip to las vegas and staying at the mgm hotel casino, could you help tell me if any celeberties own a place at the hotel, thank you so much for your help!

A: You can’t “own a place” at the MGM, except for the MGM Signature (which is what I think you mean). The Signature rooms can be bought/owned but still be rented out by the MGM’s reservation department as “inventory”….the other option, would be in a “celebrities that own a place at the hotel” catagory might be a restaurant…that could be Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, or Joel Robuchon’s.

Q: Which Las Vegas Hotel/Casino would fit our personalities the best?
I am planning a trip to Las Vegas with my husband. I want to find the perfect hotel for us. I want it to be on or very near the strip, and fit our personalities well. What I mean by that is I want us to feel comfortable and not out of place. We don’t like to be too stuffy or too fancy so we don’t want a hotel that is so over-the-top luxurious that we have to dress up just to walk around. But we don’t want a hotel that is super cheap looking…its supposed to be the honeymoon we never had, so I want it to be nicer. Nice but inviting and casual. Does anyone know what Hotel we should choose? We are in our late 20’s but don’t really like the nightclub scene, or drunken college kids partying everywhere…but we aren’t in the older crowd either. We’ll probably dress up once or twice for a nice dinner together but for the rest of the time I would like to be comfortable in jeans/khakis and blouse/polos. I’m saving a lot of money for this trip so I want to make sure we go somewhere that we are absolutely going to love. Thanks to everyone in advance!
Just wanted everyone to know I’m not the one giving out thumbs downs and I greatly appreciate everyone’s responses.

A: My recommendation will be Mandalay Bay on the south strip and the Mirage on the Center strip. Those two hotels will fit you two just right.

Q: Is anyone familiar with the Hooters hotel/casino in Las Vegas?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Las Vegas in the spring and want to stay at Hooters. Is this a nice place to stay? (I know from the name not to expect a high-class, fancy hotel.) What is there to do there or near there? Thanks!

A: Hooters is nice and affordable. Also remember you will not be spending a lot of time in your hotel room.

http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/hooters.html

It’s close to the MGM Grand and there are lots to see and do in that area.
Nearby attractions include: Hofbrauhaus, IMAX Ridefilm Adventures, IMAX Theater, Manhattan Express, Orleans Bowling Center, Shark Reef, Showcase Mall, The Tomb and Museum of King Tut, Treasures of Mandalay Bay and Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas.

Here is a list of free attractions in Vegas.

Q: Has anyone stayed at the Flamingo Hotel/Casino, Las Vegas?
I just booked a package trip to Las Vegas for next spring break. Yes, I know it’s early but I found a good deal! lol My sister recommended The Flamingo Hotel/Casino. Has anyone stayed there? What’s it like? Anything I should know?

Thanks in advance!
My sister’s a travel agent. :D

A: Flamingo is not bad for the price – it has a good location and decent rooms and a nice pool. There are better hotels on the strip, but you will pay more for them.

Q: What would be a great theme for a new Hotel / Casino in Las Vegas?
Since Las Vegas already has Ceasar’s Palace (Rome), Venetian (Venice), Paris (France), Monte Carlo (Monaco), New York New York etc…

I think they should build a Tokyo inspired casino with a mall that looks like downtown Tokyo with all of those neon lights and stuff.

Another great theme would be a St. Petersburg (Russia) casino. That would just be crazy!!!

What about you guys? What would be a great theme for a new casino in Las Vegas?

A: Ever since the first time I went to Vegas, I have always thought they should have an “Atlantis” themed hotel, like the Lost City of Atlantis. It would be a dark blue and gray with green moss/seaweed all over it to show that it has been underwater.

It’s funny you should ask that question since the same one has gone through my mind. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like they are building themed hotels anymore. All of the new construction going up looks like condos and timeshares and they are taking up a lot of space.

But I think it is fun to think about differently themed hotels and picture what they would look like on the outside and the inside, and what attractions they would incorporate to go along with the theme.

Great Question!

Q: When is the Hooters Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas closing?
I had heard that the Hooters Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas was closing in May of 2008. I heard that they were being taken over by someone else with a name change and total renovation, but as of June 5th, they were still taking reservations. I am going to Las Vegas in late Sept and I want to know if they will still be in business,. Does anybody know what the latest news is. Thanks.

A: This usually takes awhile. They have to get approval for the change of ownership. Most places stay open during this kind of change and as long as they plan to stay open you will be fine in making reservations. Usually the first thing to go is the Hooters theme so if that is what you are wanting you may be disappointed. The reasons it didn’t make it is Hooters does good in places that are not like Vegas. They are different and provide the excitement in other cities across the country. Here they are just another casino. Heck … all the casinos here have good looking coctail waitresses and they are not unique. They couldn’t compete with the Hard Rock or the Palms for that type of crowd.

Q: How can I open up my own casino hotel resort in Las Vegas, Nevada?
I’m a double major at University Nevada Las Vegas. My majors are Hotel Administration and Casino Gaming Management. Do you know what I have to do or steps to take to get started? I would like to someday start my own Casino Gaming Management company sometime after working for the strip casinos.

A: You are going to need to find investors unless you are very rich.

Q: need informatino on vegas club hotel and casino in las vegas on freemont st?
how is this hotel looked alright online not great and how far is it form the strip. im going for my brithday in march and want to konw best thing to do . but on a budget kinda on hotel .

A: I’ve not heard of this one, so I wonder if it’s one of the smaller hotels downtown?

Check out the traveller reviews on expedia.com and tripadvisor.com – they will also have maps and photos

Fremont Street is a depressing dump compared to the high dollar glitz of the Strip, espeically in the harsh light of day. It looks seedy and is a bit rough. This can be a refreshing change from the mega-fake Venice/Paris/Tuscany/etc resorts on the Strip, but it’s not a place to take your mum or flash the cash.

If you are on a budget, you might want to consider one of the Station casinos. They are off the Strip and cater to people who come on the weekend just to gamble. The sites can be isolated, often near shopping centres along main highways, but it’s easy to take a taxi or shuttle van to the Strip. Besides, if you are really wanting to save money, you do not want to spend all your time on the strip or all your time gambling! Some Stations, like the new Red Rock Station, can be quite luxurious so shop around.

Room prices in all casinos go up on the weekend.

Q: Las Vegas Hotel/Casino question????
Can you still use a hotels pool if your not staying there. And I mean like the really nice ones like the Palms or Caesars Palace.
I’m going to visit but I’m staying with a relative.

A: You can’t use hotel pools if you’re not staying there. You can pay to use certain pools though.. like Bare @ The Mirage, Wet Republic @ MGM Grand, The Venus Pool @ Caesars Palace.. and of course there’s the pool parties (Rehab @ The Hard Rock and Ditch Fridays @ The Palms).

While you can’t use hotel pools, as a local I’ve used many many hotel pools without staying there. It’s easiest to go to a locals casino like Green Valley Ranch or Red Rock.. You can walk right in and nobody says a word. At some of the strip hotels it can take a bit more work, some smooth talking and maybe a little “tip” to get in.

Best pool in town is at Mandalay Bay, imo.
