Q: Any good tourist attractions in Germany?
I’m going to Germany this summer, but I don’t know where to go. I will stay in Frankfurt (Hesse). But I could possibly travel to other parts of Germany.

A: Frankfurt is near the Rhine River, which has many ships from which you can view the vinyards and castles. Take the train to Ruedesheim to catch the cruise. You can get on and off in many of the little towns along the way.

Take the train to Heidelberg, a university town about an hour south of Frankfurt. Take the tram up to the castle, do the philsopher’s walk, enjoy.

Take the ICE to Berlin for a long weekend. The trains go 150 miles an hour, so you get there fast. But, they are so smooth, you can walk around or eat in the dining car while en route.

In Frankfurt, enjoy the many museums near the Main River and the Roemer (Roman) section. Frankfurt has a mile of stores along the Ziel, which is good for walking and people-watching. Take in a show at the beautiful Alt Oper (old opera house).

If you don’t mind leaving the country, you are close enough to go to Czech, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, Austria or The Netherlands on a long weekend. The same passport that got you into Germany will let you go to any of those. At most borders, no one will even ask for an id. Again, i recommend the train as the way to go.

You can also get cheap airfares out of Frankfurt. Check the counters at the airport, or check out opodo.de

Q: What’s all the hoopla over soon to be president Obama giving a speech at some tourist attraction in Germany?

A: It was denied. Was he going to do it in German, bet not probably English…shame on him & how embarassing for the American people.

Q: wheres the best tourist attraction in germany?

A: Bodensee IS AWESOME. I have been there too. You can see it in Germany, travel to Austria and also go to Switzerland and see the lake from that side and go hiking in the Swiss Alps as I did with my german gf in the mid 90s.

other than that i think the unique architecture is a great attraction in Germany!

Q: Any tourist attractions around the border between netherlands and germany to drive for?
Is there any beautiful natural tourist attraction around the border between netherlands and germany?. I’m living in Rotterdam, and would like to drive to germany for some beautiful scenes like, lake, mountains, valleys, etc..any suggestions?!
Thank you:))

A: Just at the border, not many.
If you like a longish drive, how about going to the north through Noord Holland and use the ‘Afsluitdijk’ to get to Friesland, visit the Frisian lakes or if you have much time, Vlieland or Terschelling, and drive on to Bourtange, in Groningen, near the German border.
An alternative route, or for the way back, could be a short visit to the southern end of what used to be the Zuiderzee, now the ‘randmeren’ near Hilversum or Amesfoort, the National park ‘de Hooge Veluwe’ and north from there. You could still include the Frisian lakes.

For more dramatic landscapes, travel more to the south. Around Apeldoorn there are some hills, otherwise, Limburg and beyond in Belgium or Germany.

Added:
@Orla: if you had red before answering, you would have seen that I mentioned Bourtange as well as Limburg!

Q: Know anything about Amsterdam or Germany?
I’m going to Amsterdam and Germany in a few months. Ive heard a few things about Amsterdam, such as drugs and marijuana are legal. Is this true? Anyone have any info on this, like where to get this, what parts of town. Also, I want to visit some tourist attractions in Germany & Amsterdam, any information on attractions please let me know. Thank you.

A: Amsterdam is a city, the main city of the Netherlands. No, it’s not true that soft drugs are legal, they have merely been decriminalised, but cocaine and heroine remain both illegal and criminal to have in your possession. You can get soft drugs (marijuana and such) in coffeeshops, but not in large amounts, and you cannot deal it yourself. If you do, you’re looking for trouble with the police – who, my friend, are EVERYWHERE. Just so you know …. The reason you can easily get soft drugs but not hard drugs in the Netherlands in general is because the police decided to take this divide-and-conquer tactic with dealers to reduce what was potentially a drugs time bomb, and it has been successful. A real pity other countries don’t follow this example.

Germany is a neighbouring country. Forget about any type of drugs there, they are highly illegal and not at all tolerated. Don’t even think about trying to smuggle drugs across the border. It’s not worth it.

Q: Tourist attractions in or near Bad Hersfeld, Germany?
I’m going to Germany in June and July this summer. I will be staying in Bad Hersfeld with my uncle, so I don’t really need any information on hotels and such.
I would like to do some sight seeing, but I really don’t know what is nearby. Any information on tourist attractions or pretty sights would be wonderful!
Thanks :]
I’m honestly open to anything. When in Germany live as the Germans do.
But, I guess seeing historic sites and things like that would be cool.
Any landscapes or anything that would be fun for pictures and things.
Interesting towns near by and things like that are usually fun.

A: Just check out their site even available in English.
If you add some of your interests we might be able to help you further.

The biggest attraction of Bad Hersfeld are the Festspiele not sure if classical music is one of your interests and if you visit at the time of the Festspiele…
The castles in the surroundings are quite easy to find there are quite q few of them if you enter Bad Hersfeld in Google maps they already show up I ll add that link and another one with some nice pics of Bad Hersfeld
I hope that you have a nice time there

Q: ***NEED EUROPEAN TOURIST EXPERTISE*** (germany, prague, ect..)?
My question will actually be a series of questions which is why I need someone with expert advise that knows places, prices and any other ideas to make the best experience for me and my friends.
BACKROUND ON US:
*There are 3 of us going on this trip.
*One of the guys going has family out there and we will be staying with them.
*He doesn’t know much about out there either.
*His family might know of some good places but nothing for us young guys that like to go out and have some beers.
*He has agreed to let us stay out there with him in Munich, Germany with his family. He is fluent in German.
*I am single-both of my friends have girlfriends but don’t mind going out for my benefit to be my Already taken wing men.
*I am 50% Czech and would love to visit Prague.
*We have a RT flight to Munich from L.A. for 600$
*I am 26 years old
*Planning on heading out Late January
*Friend will be out there with his Family for 2 weeks

***So here is where the questions start:

*How long would a 1st time trip visiting a few countries take us comfortably (Is 8 days good enough…2 to fly and 6 to tour)?
*How much money should we be bringing…not including the 600$ flight for this fun enjoyable trip..or a rough estimate?
*Since we will be hanging out with his family briefly, where should we go that is close?
*More importantly, where should I, as a single male be going out to…that is somewhat safe (ie…clubs or where the European girls hang out at)?
*Where are some fun tourist attractions at that is not to far away from Munich?
*Should I stay in a hostel in another country for another fun experience?
*Do European girls like American guys?
*What do we need to do so as not to look like a cocky, arrogant American @$$ holes?

If there is any other information that you think is relevant please let me know. This is the most money I have ever spent on a trip and I want to make it fun and rememorable.

A: There are so many places to visit, in Europe also. I prefer to visit Serbia, Czech, Greece, Croatia, or Switzerland. Those are Beautiful countries and really cultural. Serbia has the best Temperature in January, time your going to travel. To see more visit

Q: hi from Germany, are there any attractions apart from the tourist ounce’s in London?

A: Hi, Here’s what I always pass along!
Wow…you’re in for a treat! Wear good walking shoes because London is a superb walking city. Bring a good map of the city and begin. Be a happy tourist and first hop on one of the major red double decker tour buses which afford you a perfect overview of London and you can “hop on and off” as often as you please…some for two days! I love www.theoriginaltour.com ! Highlights (see www.londonwalks.com): National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Tate Modern Museum, London Eye, Covent Gardens (great shops n restaurants), St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, see a play!, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Tower of London.
Know London has many beautiful parks which can be your oasis when needing a rest. Kensington Gardens in one of the world’s wealthiest areas – See Princess Di’s Kensington Palace and shop Kensington High St. and wander up Church St. for boutiques and such. Nearby: Royal Albert Hall, Science Museum, Natural History Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum. Hyde Park connects to Kensington Gardens. Explore Chelsea for boutiques as well. St. James Park – beautiful, sole restaurant inside. Green Park – high tea at the Ritz, Fortnum & Mason, Picadilly Circus (think Times Square). Shopping streets: Oxford, Bond, check for weekly markets…BUY “TIMEOUT LONDON” weekly magazine. Boat trip on the Thames – a must. Don’t forget – you can take the EUROSTAR Chunnel train to Brussels or Paris for day trips (2.5 hrs +/- each way!) Hope this helps. Have a fantastic time! :)

Q: What can you do in Amsterdam age 17?
A group of mates want to do some traveling through amsterdam and germany, what tourist attractions can we get into age 17 (I understand we would be underage for coffeshops)? Also is there anything you would recommend in the rest of Holland?

A: Amsterdam is a beautiful city, there are heaps of museums, art galleries, van gogh is one of my favourites. A canal boat trip, the Anne Frank house, numerous parks, where the young people gather or just a walk round this lovely city.

You are allowed to drink beer and wine from the age of 16 in Holland, 18 for spirits.

Do be careful of pickpockets, they have it down to a fine art in Amsterdam, so do not keep all your money in one place and take extra care of your passports. Leave most of your money and your passport in a hotel safe if possible, apart from that just use your common sense and you will have a great time.
