Q: Travelocity?
Has anybody ever booked with Travelocity and had a bad experience?
I had a horrible experience. I went to Pensacola to visit my husband who is a Marine stationed at NAS. I bought a package trip w/ hotel & flight. I checked into the hotel & they said my hotel wasn’t paid for. But I had the confirmation & a bank statement saying Travelocity took my money out. So all I could do is charge one night stay to my credit card. I contacted travelocity the next day to figure out what was going on. The hotel said they had to fax over papers and Travelocity said they would. They didn’t!!!! INot even for the week I was there. They did nothing. I called Travelocity everday on my trip and nothing was resolved until 2 weeks after I got home from my trip. I will never book with them AGAIN!
A: Go to http://www.firstworldclasstravel.com
I had no problem going to Cancun
Q: Are Expedia and Travelocity reliable for international travel?
I am planning a trip to Europe and it is going to be quite a financial commitment for me–especially since I want to stay in really nice hotels. Has anyone booked 5-star European travel on Expedia or Travelocity? Were your reservations honored? Were the rooms what you expected? I have booked throught both services in the US but not in Europe. I would appreciate any feedback about your experiences.
Thank you.
A: If you really want to book quality, book directly. All you’re doing booking through Expedia or Travelocity is adding a middleman.
That being said, if you must go with one, go with Travelocity. Expedia has quite a bad reputation among frequent travelers.
Q: Is there a site other than Travelocity for last minute vacation packages with two different departure cities?
I have a friend in another city and we like to take spur of the moment vacation packages. Travelocity offers last minute packages that way. However, in recent months they have taken to bait and switch. They post a price per passenger and when you go to book you get messages that the flight is no longer available at that price or the room is no longer available at that price and they post a surcharge to what they advertised.
A: I use http://www.fybymetravel.co m
Q: What is the difference between booking a cruise through the companys website vs. Orbitz or Travelocity?
My husband and I are planning our first Caribbean cruise. Is there an advantage to booking a cruise through the ships website, like Carnival or Royal Caribbean verses booking it through a website like Orbitz or Travelocity?
A: I like to book directly with the cruise line or a travel agent. You have someone to call if you have any problems. I think the customer service is better.
enjoy your cruise)
Q: What sicknesses does travelocity cancel for and is there a fee even with trip insurance?
im looking to cancel my trip, and i paid for the insurance, what illnesses are accepted for cancelation?
thank in advanced
A:
based upon your situation,I think you should find something useful here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm .
Q: I ordered tickets through Travelocity, is it enough to bring my confirmation informaiton to the airport?
Also, what items could cause problems when they check our stuff to get on the plane? I don’t want to be the cause of any hold ups or problems.
I’m so nervous I’ve only flown twice before and that was about 10 years ago.
A: Hey don’t worry about it too much. A lot has changed in ten years but just follow the instructions of the staff at the airport and you should be fine. I’ve been through American airports, European airports and Caribbean airports. It’s all pretty standard stuff.
If you booked online you should have an e-ticket which would be the email confirmation with a booking number. That is all you need to check in with your passport as a form of ID. Make sure you passport hasn’t expired! If you are still unsure call the airline 24 hours before to confirm your seat on the plane. Airlines now rarely print paper tickets due to cost.
Holdups are pretty standard so don’t worry if you are the cause of it..if people give you funny looks they are just being rude. Delay is expected at airports. So check-in with plenty of time. Things that cause delays:
Do not carry anything sharp or obvious weapons in your hand luggage. If for example you need to carry needles for medication you need to inform the airline and they will advise you appropriately. Needless to say do not carry anything illegal!!! Some types and quantities of medication may be illegal in other countries. Also alcohol, tobacco and food items may cause problems. If in doubt notify the airline, they will let you know what you can carry or direct you to the relevant foreign embassy.
Anything that is metal will likely set off the detector so either remove watches, belts, jewelry, glasses, keys etc or be prepared for a quick pat down. If you have prams, wheelchairs, walking sticks etc. notify the airline they will provide assistance through security and to your seat on the plane.
No liquids gels or creams (including mascara lipgloss)are allowed (in mostly American airports/some other countries are more relaxed) unless they are ALL in the smallest size ziplock freezer plastic bag. If you are travelling with babies notify the airline of any formula and milks, they will advise appropriately. Depending on the airport you can sometimes buy these things airside i.e. in the departure lounge.
You have to remove coats, jackets, hats shoes and anything bulky to go through the detector. There will be trays to put them in. If you have a laptop that need to come out of the bag and be place separately in a tray.
Another oddity is the one carry-on luggage again depending on which airport you depart from. Check the size of it to make sure it is the correct size for that particular flight you are taking. They can differ depending on the aircraft and the class of your seat. (first class are alllowed bigger luggage!). Some airport staff have amused me by telling me that my handbag and my carry on bag were two pieces! So now I just resort to carrying one bag that is big enough to fit my handbag in if I get any queries from security. I don’t know what people with laptops do!
If you are just travelling internally and not actually going to another country, that should be easier.
Check these things before you get to the airport and once you get there put it to the back of your mind, take along some entertainment for the queues, waiting and flight and enjoy yourself, you’ll forget all about being nervous. Airports often seem like a hassle but they are a necessary evil so I just make the best of it I can and forget all about it when I get to my destination particularly if it is some tropical beach!
Also never forget sunglasses, you’ll look jet-set on arrival no matter what you’ve been through.
Q: What is the best way to obtain cheap airplane tickets, ie.,orbitz, travelocity?
I went out of the country to visit a friend of mine and can’t seem to score anymore cheap tickets. Is there any thing that you all are doing that I’m not?
A: kayak.com – It searches all the airlines, cheap sites for tickets. I use it all the time.
airninja.com is also okay
Q: What web sites are the best for airline tickets? I know of Travelocity and other sites?
Is there anyway to get travel agents discounts without being one?
A: Travelocity sell in quite in few countries, but not everywhere. Please edit your question to tell us a little more about your trip — departure and arrival airports, when you plan to travel are necessary for booking airfares. This way, you’ll get tailor-made answers and not general guesses.
Q: How many different garden gnomes do the nice folks at Travelocity have on staff?
And what kind of benefits do they get besides free travel? Health insurance, 401(k), what? Are they unionized? If I were 3 feet shorter, could I be one? I mean, I can grow a beard and everything . . .
Just asking.
Oh yeah, and are they discriminatory? I’ve never seen a female garden gnome on any Travelocity commercials. Perhaps the female garden gnome population can bring a class-action lawsuit.
Thanks all!
A: I think there are a lot, like oompa loompas.
Q: With Travelocity, what do I need to get my ticket?
I’ve heard something mentioned about a receit, but I’m not sure if the one I have in my e-mail is the one I need. The subject was “Travelocity Confirmation”, it has the trip #, my name, my itenerary, the price.
Is this it, or do I need to look for something else?
A: Just bring that with you to the airport. They’ll print everything you need there. (just make sure it definately has your flight conformation number and not just your itinerary traveloctiy number). If it doesn’t have your flight number (or if you aren’t sure if it does) Contact Travelocity and check. Usually though, even without that number if you have proper ID and your last name, the airport will be able to find your reservation. But to be safe, and make it all easier try to bring your conformation.
Q: does anyone know if there is a phone nuber to reach Travelocity?
What I would like to do is book a trip on one of their packages, but on teh return flight have it leave one week later then the package’ s stay at the hotel. Thanks in advance
A: It’s on the top of the home site page on the right hand side – (I assume you are in the UK) so 0871 472 5116
Q: What are some other travel/ airline sites besides expedia.com and travelocity?
and is it normal for flights to go up in a few hours? I checked it a few hours ago, and it’s gone up a hundred dollars since then!
A: Yeah thats normal. Well it could depend what site you are on.
I always book my airline tickets with
flightcentre.com
goodluck
Q: What is a good alternative to Travelocity’s Dream Maps?
It used to show the cheapest possible airfare to different places in the US and abroad. They don’t keep it up like they used to.
A: www.farecast.com
www.farecompare.com
Q: Anyone had any experiences with Travelocity or Expedia?
I’m about to go to a conference in Milwaukee and thinking about booking my flight and hotel with either Travelocity or expedia but I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with these online travel agencies or any others that were good- In addition, I’ve never used these online sites before so I was wondering what your opinions were for customer service, if you had any problems with them (and if so, if it ever got resolved), if the sites are safe (such as putting in credit card info), and if they are reputable. Thanks!
A: I book frequently on Expedia and have never had a problem. I even booked a 2 week multi-city trip to Egypt and Jordan on Expedia, and all of the hotels had my reservation with requests and all.
The primary thing to watch out for is that many of the hotels are non-cancelable, so you need to read the fine print before booking. (Usually Expedia partner hotels with discounts are non-cancelable, and the non-partner hotels with no discounts are cancelable.)
You can also enter your frequent flier #s onto their website, and they’ll pass it along to the airline on your reservation.
You can sort hotels by price or location, and filter by # of stars (so, for example, you can eliminate 2 star hotels if you want a nicer place).
I’ve never had a problem w/ the credit card on their site, but if you’re nervous you can call your card # in — they have a toll free #.
Usually Expedia gives a small discount (around $20-50) for booking hotel and flights together.
Expedia does have traveler reviews, but I found that http://www.tripadvisor.com has even more reviews, so I usually use them.
Happy travels!
Q: What are some alternative to using travelocity?
I’ve used them in the past and have been happy with the results. I am planning a trip for the end of March. I’m just trying to get an idea of cost. I pick a flight and then they jack up the price saying the flight in full. Oh sure!! Full 2 1/2 months in advance!!
Thanks!
flight only. no hotel.
A: This is who I always used………
