Q: whats in glasgow?
today im going to glasgow, does anyone know any good tourist sites?im looking for something geared towards wildlife, fun and history.oh,nd did anyone ever stay in the travel lodge there?is it good?

A: Go to the ‘See you Jimmy’ Museum of Glasgow Culture. Wonderful display of Glasgow’s history. My wife, Dorothy, especially liked the witty display on the old custom of banging heads when Glaswegians met.
‘Has your mother got a sewing machine?’ one would ask.
If came the reply, ‘Yes’,
He would then but him hard on the head, saying ‘Well stitch that then’.
Brilliant, and well worth seeing.

Q: does any1 know of…………?
hey,so in october there is a few gigs in glasgow that i wanna go to from the 8th – 11th, they are in the city centre except 1 which is at the secc

my mum wont let me go on my own so does any1 know of a sorta cheap hotel/travel lodge that would be 4days for a family of 3.
cheers x

A: Euro Hostel Glasgow. Don’t let the cheap prices put you off, I’ve stayed here in Glasgow a few times after gigs and find it’s really good value. The rooms are basic but clean and all are en-suite. It’s in the city centre so close to the SECC.

Have a great time!

Q: cheap accomodation in london…?
so me and my two best friends want to go to london in the summer (we live in glasgow). by then one of us will be 16, the other two of us will be 15. we’ve already found really cheap train tickets and all our parents have agreed. we were looking at hostels, mainly the yha ones but they say under 16s have to be with an over 18- but we’d probably be booking a 4 person room anyway, so i thought my friend’s 21 year old cousin could check us in and be our adult, because they wouldnt check if she was actually sleeping there.
the thing is my parents are now saying theyd prefer us to stay with my friends grandparents in luton, which would make it quite boring. i think it would be better if we stayed in hotel (safer), it might make them be more lenient. i called the holiday inn and they said that no one under 18 could be there without and adult. i was just wondering if theres any point calling travel lodge or premier inn (similar prices to hostels!) or do all hotels have this policy? and would the method i thought of for the hostel work in a hotel? thanks, sorry its long

A: Go to: http://www.ryanair.com and click on Hostels at the top. They have some real cheap prices and may cater to the younger people.

Good luck! I miss London-Bayswater Area…

Q: Is this the best way?
to get from Glasgow to London? I am going to see Michael Jackson next year & never been to London before. I was given these directions, but are they accurate or is there a better way? ………………………

Get train down to kings cross and then staying in the travel lodge at covent garden. The o2 arena is near canary wharf you can get the light railway straight to it.

A: yes that looks fairly OK to me, just a few details to add … some trains from Glasgow come into Kings Cross but more come into Euston … the two stations are not that far apart so it really doesn’t matter which one … the Travelodge at Covent Garden is fine too, although you might find one of the Kings Cross Travelodge’s more convenient (although just about any hotel that you can get a good price at which is near an underground station would be OK) … the underground station for the O2 is actually North Greenwich on the Jubilee line (not the Docklands Light Railway) … have a look at the underground map

if the train is too expensive, you might want to look at flying down to London, you can get some good prices if you’re booking early

Q: Glasgow Scotland parking?
I am hoping to get some advice – We are picking up our rental car at the Glasgow airport around 10:30am and then would like to spend the afternoon in Glasgow. We will then be traveling on to Melrose to our lodging for the night and the thought is to park somewhere convenient to the road to Melrose and perhaps taking public transportation into the city. Does this make sense? I think I want to avoid bringing the car into the city due to traffic and parking issues.

A: Parking is a pain in Glasgow however if you’re willing to walk a wee bit you can park for quite cheap. It depends what day and what time you’ll be in the city- either way if you’re picking up a car at the airport you’ll be hitting the traffic at some point.
The carpark I’ve linked to is brilliant(the second one called high street)- 60p an hour is nothing really. Its up by the cathedral so quite near some tourist like places and only 10 mins from George Square. It is also literally 2 minutes off the motorway so you won’t get stuck in traffic for too long if you park there.

This link below has a map of the city so you can see where High Street is, it also has a big list of all the car parks plus prices.

Is it possible to pick the car up later? You might be easier (and cheaper) getting a bus into the centre and then back to pick up car after. The Kingston Bridge (Which you can’t avoid) can be a major nightmare at peak times.

Q: What are the best sites to track great transatlantic flight deals from USA to UK?
My friends and I are planning to visit Edinburgh in September. Right now we are about to book our lodging and wait to buy airfare until later (when its hopefully cheaper). I am a member of several email lists that give notification of travel deals but they are mainly US based carriers.

I need sites that have low cost tickets from the US, preferrably CLT airport, to EDI. I don’t mind flying to another airport in the UK, if the combined transportation costs are cheaper than a connecting flight to EDI (example, flying into Glasgow or London and taking a cheaper flight or public transport to Edinburgh).

Lastly, with charges and fees, right now flights are about $1000 USD or 500£. We are looking for lower if possible. In January, British Air was offering $250 flights each way and something like that would be great.
Thanks in advance!

A: You probably won’t find $250 each way on CLT-EDI in September. Winter transatlantic airfares are cheapest; summer most expensive. This should help: http://www.farecompare.com/fare-search/year.html?destination=EDI&s=r&t=r&departure=CLT&type=homepage2 .. it rates airfares so you know what’s historically a good fare on a route, so you can be ready to purchase when the price drops at or near that level again. http://www.bookingbuddy.com is also good.
